A small gesture but made my day
So this has been bothing me since Tuesday and I need to share.
My son who is 8 years old went to Lacasse Park in Tecumseh with his Respite Worker. It was their first day together after a few months of me trying to find one for him with no luck, but that's not the problem.
While they were out I received a phone call from a private name, private number, it was a police officer asking if I knew that my son was with this man This man who by the way has a police clearance in order to become a respite worker, this man who I had interviewed a week prior.
All because 3 woman noticed that my son didn't look like the man he was with, so their conclusion of the situation was that the man isn't his father, so he must be kidnapped because he's calling the man by his first name.
1st thank you for being that concerned, but 2nd please people be aware that not all children with Respite Workers are in wheel chairs, or have Autisim, or Down Syndrom, some kids have mental health issues, and hidden behaviour issues and need a Respite Worker. 3rd that man my child was with could have been an uncle, family friend, neighbor or a boyfriend of mine, because my son's father isn't around and hasn't been for 5 years.
Please when being observant, you keep all factors in mind before calling 911 and reporting things.
Around 12:45pm on Monday February 11th, I ran in to the hospital with my 8 month old daughter who was having a scary allergic reaction. It is now 3:45, we're home safe and sound, and I have so many people I want to thank!
First, to the 3 women waiting to go into triage ahead of me. They saw how frantic and terrified I was, so they helped to calm me down and assured me my daughter was going to be okay. One of them happened to be a nurse herself, and she reassured me that my baby's colour looked okay and that her crying meant she was still breathing. They all insisted I go ahead of them in triage, even though it was busy in emerg and they would have to wait longer. How selfless! I hope at least one of them reads this, and if so, please know that I am SO grateful for your kindness!
Second, to the entire team at Erie Shores Healthcare. I can't say enough good things about the care we received today! They admitted us immediately after triage, and we were greeted by the sweetest, most friendly and attentive nurse, I believe his name was David. He was amazing with my shy little girl and couldn't stop gushing about how excited he was to have such a cute patient. He begged to stay with us, but was needed elsewhere. Then we had another awesome nurse named Kim, she was very kind. And lastly, the incredible doctor we had, I wish I could remember his name. He took such good care of us and was very helpful and informative. He even called me personally when I got home to say he'd feel better if he could send in a prescription for an EpiPen for her, just in case something happens again before we see the allergist he referred us to.
And I can't forget the rest of the staff members that would walk by or pop in just to say hi to her and remark on her cuteness. We encountered so many friendly people today!
As a first time mom, this was the scariest experience of my life, but I am beyond thankful for all the wonderful people who helped us through it!
Thank you to whoever bought our lunch today at Chuck's Roadhouse! We've had a really rough year and having trouble keeping our spirits up for the Holidays. You have helped fill our hearts with a bit more joy for the season!
Any body know when leamington skatepark will be done? ive been waiting sooooo long!
My son and I were shopping at WalMart this afternoon. As we entered the checkout we were joking around with each other. I noticed a lady look over at my son and smile. We checked out and as we were about to leave the lady came over to us and gave my son $5 and told him to buy himself something for Christmas. My son was touched. We had a couple of things to look for at Value Village. While we were there my son found a suit jacket that he wanted to get, so I suggested that he use the money that he just received. He was so excited to buy this jacket. It made his night.
Thank you so much for your kindness. It made my son's evening. Such a small gesture goes a long way.
